Eight top teams are entered for the Thai Polo Open, which shall be run at the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Thailand from Friday 9th to Saturday 17th January 2009.  The Thai Polo Open has attracted to teams and patrons from Asia to play in this 8 to 10 goal tournament. Six teams travel their best ponies to Pattaya to contest this tournament that grows in stature each year.

Edwina Alexander and Isovlas Itot du Château Win London-Olympia

A small girl on a small horse were the big winners of the extremely tough London Olympia leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup™ competition. Edwina Alexander and Isovlas Itot du Chateau were the only ones to remain without any faults after two glorious rounds of power jumping. In the jump off the 34 year old Australian born Dutch resident only had to deal with veteran John Whitaker, who’s horse Casino had a silly mistake at the last oxer. Being last to go, Edwina Alexander only had to stay clear for the second time. Which was not a job to be taken lightly. Itot du Chateau had to jump fences bigger than himself.

Isabell and Satchmo Reign Supreme in Frankfurt

From the Christmas Horseshow in London Olympia a few days later the World Cup™ Qualifier dressage settled down in Frankfurt, Christmas carols and the great atmosphere included. Isabell Werth and Satchmo rode their special Freestyle with music with the unique emotional voice of soprano Montserrat Caballé. Werth and Satchmo made their Freestyle as sparkling as they could without taking special risks, thus giving the preference to harmony, lightness and easiness. Their winning test did cast a spell on the audience and the judges. Difficult transitions from extended canter into a pirouette and two tempi changes into one tempi changes impressed judges and audience alike. But almost the most impressive was the modesty and harmony in the performance.

S'pore Youth Olympic Games qualification system set

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the sports competitions programme for the first Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held in Singapore in 2010, as well as the qualification system for each event.

Showjumping, the sole discipline representing equestrian sport, will see a total of 30 riders between 17 and 18 years of age competing on borrowed horses at the Singapore Turf Club.

FEI Bureau agrees to South East Asian Equestrian Championships for December 09

The FEI Bureau has agreed to the application of the South East Asian Federation to hold a South East Asian Equestrian Championships from 6th to 13th December 2009 at Pattaya, Thailand.
