Jump-Off 74

All hail President Papa Hobama.  Check out Katie Price’s ample range.  And Amy Winehouse’s rehab style of riding.  Is Thailand Off Course?  Something must be catching as Philippines and Malaysian NF’s both have Electile Dysfunction. Get down with Jump-Off 74 if you want to Sheikh Yerbouti.

Papa Hobama

Congratulations to Papa Ho who has been elected President of the Asian Equestrian Federation, the first Singaporean, indeed South East Asian to be honoured with the presidency.

Sheikh Yerbouti

FEI President Princess Haya’s Clean Sport campaign has been blown apart by the stunning news that her husband, Sheikh Mohammed, has had two of his horses fail dope tests after competing in FEI rides in Bahrain and Dubai.

In the Bahrain ride, his horse had traces of 16b-hydroxy-stanozolol, a metabolite of stanozolol, which was most infamously used by Ben Johnson in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

His other horse, named Tahhan, tested positive for guanabenz — used to treat hypertension.

Until they treated him for hypertension (high blood pressure), the horse used to be called “Tak Boleh Tahhan”.

Electile Dysfunction

Reference to an ''EAM Erection'' in Equestrian.Com.My’s forum has revealed the EAM may, in fact, have Electile Dysfunction.

The Philippines is up in arms that their Equestrian Association of Philippines election will next be held in 2012 - three years away instead of on 31st March 2009,  as originally planned.

Malaysia which, on the other hand, has not seen EAM elections since 2005 wonders what their problem is.

MERA vs MERS

Malaysian Endurance Riders Society (MERS) has all but been declared functionally defunct by the newly formed MERA (Malaysian Endurance Rider's Association) which does everything that MERS was supposed to do, and presumably more.  With bells and whistles on top.

With two endurance organisations, one of which is inactive, one would think MERS would be the natural EAM choice.

Tournament Self Promo

A non-polo person got herself published in a top local magazine as "Tournament Director" of the Hookahs Polo Tournament.  It came as a surprise to polo people to see her name listed “Tournament Director”, especially as many polo players don’t know who she is.

Thailand Off Course

“…the locals have to learn that it is not a game of trick the ground jury, eventing is about presenting fit horses and keeping them that way. In my opinion, if the Thais are to make the next move up the ladder to a spot at the Games, they need to buy some young, started horses, and spend some time learning how to take care of them in Australia – because those skills are not available in Thailand right now.

The Horse Magazine’s editor Chris Hector lets them have it.  To read his view of eventing in Thailand, please click here:

Rehab star Amy Winehouse shows off her riding skills while in St Lucia.

There is no truth in the rumour that James Ravindra is now reschooling the horse.

Princess Problems

The Princess Royal, Princess Anne says her daughter Zara, the reigning eventing world champion, can prove a headache when it comes to selling horses.

"All my horses are for sale, but the difficulty is that if Zara rides them, I can't sell them, because people think they must be her rejects!

"All breeders are faced with this problem. It's the same for The Queen. If you're a stud owner, you've got to sell the good ones as well as the others in order to keep going."

Jump-Off presumes she was referring to the horses and not Zara.

Loo-less

Britain’s Princess Anne has warned that she will have to cut back on food, flowers and lavatory facilities at her Gatcombe Horse Trials this summer, due to the recession.

Other Cost-Cutting Measures

Pink Polo Masterclass

Having mastered dressage, Katie Price a.k.a Jordan now seeks to conquer polo. Jordan will take part in a polo match at one of Europe's biggest horse events.

According to the Daily Star the 30-year-old glamour model, who has her own Pink Equestrian range of fashionwear, has been invited to go up against a squad led by a mystery celeb at the British Open Show Jumping Championships in April.

Check out Katie’s ample range.

Floating Folly

A Farmer forgot to take a trailer to a livestock market...so he took his new horse home in his car.

Cell in Cellar

Perhaps driving your horse around in your car is not as bad as keeping your pony locked up at home?  A Swedish woman was charged with cruelty for keeping her pony in cellar.

Holey-Moley

Looks like this horse stepped in a hole.

Sausage Pony

A pony with short legs and a long body has caused numerous people to call the emergency services in the mistaken belief she is stuck.

She's no stick-in-the-mud

XTC

A British professor thinks that the drug Ecstasy is "no more dangerous than horse riding".

Wagging

WAG Toni Terry, wife of Chelsea FC captain John Terry, has taken up dressage.  She’s been known to make a better half-pass than John.
