In a statement released yesterday, Stud Manager Ross Dorman said, "On behalf of the National Stud Farm, we regret to inform that the 12th Sale has been postponed to a later date.
As a responsible company, the farm has taken the proactive stance in arriving at the decision pending the outcome of the results of tests conducted to ascertain the condition of the horses.
We would also like to assure the public that the NSF is in close communication with the Department of Veterinary Sevices (DVS), Ministry of Agriculture Malaysia and is taking advice from the DVS on necessary measures.
In the 34 years of history, the NSF has always maintained the highest standards underlining the ongoing need to play a pivotal role in Malaysia's equine industry and will continue to take all measures in ensuring the maintenance and delivery of top quality horses in this region."
Equestrian.Com.My understands the tests being undertaken are to verify if there is a possible viral outbreak. No outbreak has been confirmed. No new date has been set as yet for the sale.
The National Premier Sale 2003 is an unreserved sale of 67 lots of two-year-old thoroughbred progeny meant for the racing industry. The sale was scheduled to commence at 1:30 pm on Friday 21st November 2003.
