I'd rather have a goddam horse. A horse is at least human, for God's sake. ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

A Horse Anyone Can Ride
From the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom, this rather strange and frankly sickening story of horses trained to carry lions. Here’s a photo of the lion whispering in the horse’s ear.
“If you buck me off, you’re dinner.”
Chris Ladbrook does Jackie Chan
If you see the new Jackie Chan Olympic TV advertisement, you might catch Trish Braithwaite’s champion eventer Krystallos being ridden by Chris Ladbrook. Chris was the stunt double for an American actor who was supposed to be the rider in the ad. In the ad, Chris had to get Krystallos to refuse a cross-country fence and back up away from it. None of which came naturally to the 2006 champion eventer.
… And Hrithik Roshan
The next day Chris and Krystallos did stunt work for a Bollywood movie. Chris can look quite versatile. Almost like Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, who he was supposed to doubling for. All he lacked was a third thumb, and the unique ability to poly-thumb text messages on three phones at once.
The Temporary Tengku
Shaik Reismann was mistakenly identified as a Malaysian Prince when the Malaysian Polo Team was on tour of New Zealand. When asked if it was true there was a Malaysian Prince in the team, NZ liaison John Bell correctly answered in the affirmative but did not elaborate. Perhaps it was Shaik’s demeanor that led to him being assumed to be the Prince in the party.
Tengku Shazril, who was on the tour, was blissfully oblivious to the fuss being made of Shaik. And Shaik wondered if all the Malaysian players were being offered sweet deals in penthouses, vineyards and other Kiwi delicacies.
What’s in a name, part 769
Malaysian SEA Games Eventer Lingesparan was partnered with the MSN purchased horse “Beefeater”. How is a good Hindu lad like Linges going to explain the name of the horse to his family? “No, no, Amar, it’s just a name….”
Well-Fed
Our favourite NF website has a new section called “Classifeds”. No, it is not about how well fed they are, though the one and only “classifed” details their floating charges. They list all states of West Malaysia even though the float is licensed to operate only in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak and Malacca.
There's no praise ...
The EAM has a hip-hip-hurrah article on Malaysia’s SEA Games success on their website. It ends with this line. “Again a warm well done to all the riders, the officials and to all who has made it possible, especially the staff at EAM who has worked hard in doing the preparations.”
Jump-Off has especially highlighted the last part of the sentence for you, as it, unfortunately, cracks up nearly everyone we have shown it to. What’s that phrase about self-praise?
AGM Blues
Jump-Off has heard it, and no, it's not true, the joke about Malaysia having more General Elections than the EAM.
Little Miss Doolittle
A 4-year-old girl has the ability to talk to animals through a chromosome defect. When she asked your horse if you rode well, he said "Neigh."
A Shore Winner
There is an article in the Daily Mail (UK) about a new British sport call “Horsesurfing”.
Jump-Off thinks it is much harder to ride a horse like the rider in the photo than to be pulled along on a boogie-board.
Ghost Riders
A hearse overturned when the horses pulling it to a south London cemetery stampeded, dragging the carriage and coffin past-appalled relatives and sending floral tributes flying.
They saw a ghost in the cemetery?
