Island Foals

On 27th May 2008, Island Horses welcomed their second foal (pic right) born on the island of Langkawi.
The first foal was born 24th March 2008 and was subsequently named Langkasuri (Please see photo below.) The second foal was a colt and has yet to be named.
Both were sired by Al – Barik, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Arab stallion.
Island Horses offer a range of trail rides, from going up into the mountains, or into the jungle, or by the beach. Truly amazing and spectacular views all around. They have 20 horses to choose from. Some are ex – racehorses but most of them are ex – polo ponies and Argentinian Criollos.
Tun Dr Mahathir heavily backs this Equestrian Centre, even going to the extent of sending most of his horses to Langkawi. (Photo at the bottom of this page is of Tun Dr Mahathir riding an Island Horse on the beach in Langkawi.)
Hamzah, the man behind it all, runs Island Horses and does a fantastic job. He has done all the breeding in Langkawi with the help of his team. Hamzah is not only the boss, but the farrier / vet as well.
The Island Horses team has recently ventured into endurance and has completed a 40km ride successfully.
Island Horses currently await the birth of 4 more foals.
