World Endurance Championship 2008 Roadshow
Friday, August 15th, 2008
To mark the hosting of the FEI World Endurance Championship 2008 (FEI WEC 2008) and to promote this prestigious event, a series of roadshows are organised by the FEI WEC 2008 organiser, Yayasan DiRaja Sultan Mizan (YDSM).
The roadshows are part of the promotional activities following the Official Grand Launch of the FEI WEC 2008 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on June 21, 2008.
The first roadshow will begin at 10 am at The Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur on August 16-17. At 11 am on both days, a motorcade consisting of vehicles from Sime Darby Motors, the official vehicle partner for FEI WEC 2008, and a special FEI WEC 2008 horse float will depart from The Pavilion to the city centre to add more hype and excitement to the roadshow.
There will be lots of games and activities at The Pavilion. Free exclusive FEI WEC 2008 merchandise will be given out to the visitors as well.
From 10am-10pm, the FEI WEC 2008 organisers have put together a line of exciting activities consisting of Deejay Quizzes, Video Presentations, an exhibition from the Malaysian Equine Council, meet-the-riders sessions and a joint party stopover from the Mix FM Road Runners.
These activities are to help promote the FEI WEC 2008 among the public and foreign tourists as there will be lots of information about the championship available at The Pavilion.
More than 140 riders from 43 countries will be in Terengganu from November 6-9 to participate in the FEI WEC 2008 together with their horses from Europe, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and Malaysia.
The Malaysian team will be led by His Majesty The King Seri Paduka Baginda Yang diPertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. His Majesty was the first Malaysian to qualify for the FEI WEC 2008.
Endurance is the fastest growing discipline of the equestrian sport. This is the first time FEI WEC 2008 is being held in South East Asia with Malaysia being given the honour of playing host by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
The second FEI WEC 2008 roadshow will be held at Bangsar from August 23-24 and the final roadshow will be in October at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.
