Derby, CCI* and World Dressage Challenge at Thai Polo

Thailand Equestrian Federation, in cooperation with Thai Polo & Equestrian Club will host three major events at Thai Polo this coming weekend. The events feature three different equestrian disciplines including Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping.

Pattaya CCI 1* 2009 is the Annual International Equestrian Competition for Eventing discipline in which rider has to complete 3 different phases, Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping within the 3-day period. This time, the CCI 1* 2009 will also be used for Final Selection Trial of the Thai National Eventing Team to prepare for the FEI South East Asian Championships 2009 to be held on February 2010 and also the Guangzhou Asian Games.

2009 World Dressage Challenge is one of the main development programme by FEI (International Equestrian Federation) aimed specifically at developing Dressage in each country. Over 50 countries competing are divided into eleven geographical zones, made up of between four and six countries per zone. The competition offers five performance levels: Prix St. George, Advanced, Medium, Elementary and Preliminary. A set test is provided for each level and the same test for each level is used within every country. A separate ranking list is created per level per country. The competition is held between individuals and teams within each zone. Each zone is judged by a different Ground Jury made up from two International FEI Judges appointed by the FEI. This year, Thailand Equestrian Federation will also use this competition as the Final Selection for Thai National Team in Dressage Discipline to be compete in the FEI South East Asian Championships 2009.

For our highlight HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup - Derby Show Jumping, the events will take place on Sunday’s afternoon. Designed and created by Paul Weier, the world-legend equestrian rider who specifically fly over from Switzerland, Derby Show Jumping becomes the Thai Polo Club’s takes on re-creating Hamburg Derby Show, the most famous show from Germany, in the site of Pattaya.
