BEQ Equestrian riders battle it out at Horse Show
BEQ Equestrian yesterday held its Horse Show for 2009 at the BEQ Stable, Block E, Royal Stable, Jerudong Park and Country Club. Fifty BEQ Equestrian riders competed in the dressage and show jumping competition at various levels – Introduction, Beginners, Novice, and Advance Classes. The BEQ Event Committee included Sardi Pranata from Indonesia, who is a reputed dressage and show jumping competition judge with vast experience in the international equestrian circle.
In the morning, 23 young riders competing in the Dressage. In the Junior Introduction, the winner was Katie Liddell, followed by Ang Jian Rong and Alexandria Walker Hart. In the Dressage Preliminary Junior, Arif Rafie Amir Hamzah emerged victorious, followed by Mohammad Danish Danial Hj Alfian and Leong Xi Wen. In the Dressage Preliminary Senior, the winner was Wee Wan Chin, while Matthew Ng and Lee Wen Zhi took second and third places respectively. In the Dressage Novice Junior, the winner was BEQ Imran Ainol Razman, followed by Summer Reid and Natasha Lediowski. In the Dressage Novice Senior, the winner was Hjh Sarimah Hj Umar, followed by Norfazrina Zaini and Morgan Laporte.
The highlight of the morning was an exhibition of the Dressage Show by Sardi Pranata showing his riding skill in the Elementary Class with BEQ Dashper.
In the afternoon, 25 riders competed in show jumping also at various levels. In the Junior Introduction class, Muhammad Danish Danial Hj Alfian took first place, followed by Alexandria Walker and Arif Rafie Amir Hamzah. The Junior Preliminary class was led by Wen Zhi Lee in first place, whilst club mate Lee Ping Lee took second spot. Third place went to Matthew Ng. Hjh Sarimah Hhj Umar was impressive in Novice, riding away with the top prize, followed by Connor Sullivan and Imron Ainol Razman.
The highlight of the day was the Show Jumping Etiquette and Top Score class by BEQ experienced riders where the highest jumping poles was set up at 1.5 m. Sardi Pranata who rode Dashper came first, Farah Li Omar riding Lucky Star ranked in second and Ponijo with Solomon came third. Following the competition, prizes were presented to the winners by Brunei Equestrian Association Vice President cum guest of honour Pg Hj Mohd Yakup bin Pg Hj Othman.
At the prize-giving ceremony, BEQ Equestrian thanked all participants, parents, sponsors, emcee, supporters and the BEQ technical committee for successfully organising the event.
