Helena Gabrielsson dominates at Equestrian Paradice's CSI* #2

Helena Gabrielsson dominated the two CSI* Nakhon Nayuk shows at her own Equestrian Paradice.  She rode away with a new motorcycle, the prize for winning most points at the two shows.  Helena won both the Grand Prix classes on her new ride, Nausicaa de Saucy, a beautiful gray mare by Mr Blue.

They dominated the 2nd show, winning the 1.30 m class on the Thursday, the Accumulator on the Saturday and staying clean throughout the two round Grand Prix and jump-off on the Sunday.

The accumulator got up to a solid 1.40 m, with the joker at a full 1.50 m. Nausicaa was the only horse to go clean.  Mary Kate Hassett also jumped the 1.50m joker with O’Jasper but finished 2nd as the penultimate fence had fallen.

It was a good lead-up programme to the Grand Prix.  Seven started the two-rounder.  It was a solid 1.30 – 1.35m first round, with 10 fences.  They jumped it well.  Five jumped it clear, although Akkara Konglapamnuay and Celine picked up a very costly time-fault.  The four with clears were Helena and Nausicaa, Mary Kate Hassett and O’Jaspar, Chris Meyer and Caiprinha and Thailand’s Dhewin Manathanya and the strangely named Tesco.

There were five clears in the 2nd round, which was a 1.35 to 1.40 m track.  Mary Kate and her second ride Anairam DD showed they could handle the bigger track even though they had had 12 faults in the first rounds.  As did Alex Maurer and the much improved Sabbat.

Chris Meyer fell back with 8 faults in the 2nd round, leaving Dhewin, Mary Kate and Helena to go through to the jump-off.

At 1.45 m, it was big enough for a CSI 1* in this region.  And it was a great jump-off.  Each horse went faster than the previous but it was only Helena and Nausicaa who left all the fences standing.  Mary Kate and O’Jaspar rounded off a great show for them with a 2nd place finish with one down in the jump-off, while Dhewin and Tesco could have won it, if not for the last double, both elements of which came down.

Congratulations to Sunetr Burakasikorn, Helena and everyone at Equestrian Paradice on what was an excellent show.  It was well run and friendly throughout.  Congratulations also to Sunetr who opened an airfield on his property on the Saturday of the show.

It is great to see Helena back at the top with another good horse as her World Cup horse Aladdin recuperates from a leg injury.  Nausicaa never touched a fence in either of the two CSI shows at Equestrian Paradice.  This 8 year old KWPN mare looks fantastic, and will be hard to beat in 2010.
